Boba Recommendations (:

Honestly, how could I not dedicate an entire blog post to boba? It's literally my addiction. I have to thank the country of Taiwan for creating this amazing drink. Some people may be addicted to Starbucks, coffee, tea, but not me. This girl is in love with boba and everything about it. More specifically, I am in love with the tapioca toppings, the drink itself is just an added bonus.

If it wasn't already inferred, this blogpost is dedicated to my favorite boba drinks from 3 of my favorite boba places.

** Keep in mind that I have a huge sweet tooth! **

HANA TEA: 1111 Dillingham Blvd, Unit E-2

Pictured above is my favorite drink from Hana Tea! Located in Kalihi, this boba shop has skyrocketed through the rankings in best boba drink! Though this shop hasn't been around for long, it has easily become a favorite for many people on island! I hopped onto the bandwagon pretty late so I haven't been able to try out much of their drinks. A friend of mine is also a boba fanatic and I decided to ask for her recommendations. Needless to say, I was not disappointed!

Hana Tea is currently closed as they are renovating their shop and kitchen! But they will be back before Christmas! I also have to add that the ambience and overall environment in their shop is cozy, homey, modern, and definitely a great study area (if their lines don't go out of the door like it usually does).

HEERETEA HAWAII: 1810 N King St

Another boba shop located in Kalihi, Heeretea Hawaii is actually a hidden gem just next to Farrington High School! The interior is incredibly spacious and modern with such a relaxing vibe to it. Though I am not sure how lively it can get when students as well as families hang around together inside. I am on a mission to try a drink at every boba shop I can find on island and Heeretea Hawaii was my most recent destination! I love the drinks there and I heard that their cheese drinks are pretty good as well!

MICKEY CAFE: 1120 Maunakea St

I literally could not finish this blogpost off without mentioning my all-time go-to boba shop! This store has been in my good graces since I was a kid! The drinks here are so incredibly affordable with most of its options being only $4. I mean, how great is that? Mickey Cafe is located in the heart of Chinatown and honestly, I feel like this place deserves more recognition for its amazing boba and for its amazing prices. There are a variety of fresh fruit smoothies as well as your classic milkteas. On top of that, their drinks have a perfect drink-to-boba ratio! You finish your drink just as you're chewing on your last topping! If this place ever shuts down, I am going to have to consult the law or something. It's been a childhood favorite of mine and it never disappoints me. On summer days when the sun just felt a little too strong, my dad always cheered my family and I up with these fresh fruit smoothies. At one point, he bought it every weekend for months on end! I'm pretty sure he's become a familiar face at their shop at this point. This is the one shop that started my boba addiction for me and I could not have picked a better place.

  1. Hi Michelle, Thank you for sharing your post. I love boba too! The best recommendation I have for the best boba is Hana Tea. But the sad part about this is that I live too far to go to Hana Tea everyday. If you happen to go to Japan, please try out the boba over there. This year boba was a very popular in the summer year. But their boba is very soft and chewy!

  2. Hi! Ok this was an awesome blog post. I have only tried sips of boba before and have been meaning to get a boba drink for so long. These look yummy.... Hopefully I will drink one before the new year. I heard they have a boba place next to the Subway at KCC. Are the drinks there any good? Haha. Thanks for sharing your recommendations!
